金融援助 Withdrawal Policy

The 金融援助 Withdrawal Policy pertains to 的 amount of financial aid that 的 student may keep, based on 的 student’s date of withdrawal. The official date of withdrawal for this policy is 的 date that 的 student begins 的 official withdrawal process or 的 date that 的 student notifies 的 University of his or her intent to withdraw. In 的 case of an unofficial withdrawal, an enrollment census is distributed to faculty twice per semester. The reported last date of class attendance as documented through 的 institution’s census reporting will be used as 的 established date of withdrawal.

Students who are receiving financial aid (federal, 状态, 机构, 和 merit) are subject to 的 金融援助 Withdrawal Policy. BSU must return any financial aid funds (including loans) to 的 appropriate aid programs that were not “earned” by 的 student. The amount of aid “earned” is determined based on 的 amount of time 的 student was enrolled. 例如, if a student only completes 5% of 的 semester, 的 student only “earned” 5% of 的ir financial aid. Three separate calculations are performed: One with all federal aid, 第二个是国家援助, 和 a third with 机构 和 merit aid. The student in this example would be allowed to keep 5% of all federal aid 和 5% of all o的r aid.

Students awarded who withdraw prior to aid being disbursed are entitled to a post-withdrawal disbursement. Notification is sent 和 students are given two weeks to submit written permission granting 的 institution authorization to disburse any eligible loan funds to 的ir student account. If no response is received, all loan funds will be canceled.

Unearned Federal Title IV aid o的r than Federal Work Study must be repaid by 的 student in 的 following order:

  1. Federal Unsubsidized 直接 Loan
  2. Federal Subsidized 直接 Loan
  3. Federal Parent (PLUS) Loan
  4. 联邦佩尔助学金
  5. 联邦SEOG
  6. O的r Title IV 金融援助

The Institution is responsible for returning any unearned Title IV aid within 45 days of 的 date 的 school determined 的 student withdrew. The student is responsible to repay 100% of unearned aid. It is very possible that a student who receives financial aid 和 withdraws during 的 financial aid withdrawal period will owe a balance to 的 BSU Student Accounts Office 和 may be required to repay funds to 的 U.S. 教育部.

Before calculating 的 amount of financial aid that must be canceled, 的 following is taken into consideration:

  • 如果一个 Promissory Note for a Mass No Interest Loan, 直接资助贷款 or 直接 未受资助的贷款 has not been signed 和 submitted by 的 student prior to 的 withdrawal date, 的 loan(s) is automatically canceled.
  • If Entrance Counseling has not been completed by 的 student prior to 的 withdrawal date, 的 直接资助贷款直接 未受资助的贷款 are automatically canceled.
  • If 的 student is a first time attendee of BSU 和 withdraws during 的 first 30 days of 的 semester, 的 直接资助贷款直接 未受资助的贷款 are automatically canceled.
  • 如果一个 MassGrant or o的r State Grant is expected 和 not actual on 的 date of withdrawal, 的 MassGrant or o的r State Grant is automatically canceled.

The calculation applies 的 percentage to 的 amount of aid after 的 above adjustments have been made.
