The 健康中心 has a wide range of support 服务 for students

c的需求ollege 经常能感觉到 overwhelming, which is why Bridgewater State University has supports in place to 帮助 students manage such issues as stress, depression 和 anxiety. 

这些服务, offered through the BSU 健康中心, are 免费的 和 confidential 和 have already benefitted many. 

“I really enjoyed using the counseling 服务 at BSU,” one student 说. “My counselor was amazing…she 帮助ed me work through a lot of issues.”

Some students may 认为the struggles they faced in high school will disappear upon getting to college. That’s not always the case, 说 艾比Smargon21, who earned her degree in social work. 

“In high school I, 和 other people I knew, struggled with anxiety 和 depression,” she 说. “It’s not like you start feeling better when you get to college. The struggles are still t在这里.”

As an undergraduate, Smargon 发达 a research project, Mental 健康 in College Students: Disclosure & 寻求支持, to 检查 some of the difficulties students face 和 how it impacts their academic performance. Of the BSU students surveyed, she found that those struggling with mental health issues do reach out  收到 帮助.   

“Bridgewater does a really good job making sure our voices are heard,” Smargon 说. 

It’s important that all students 寻求帮助 都知道 of the supports offered at BSU. Whether it be dealing with feelings of loneliness, sadness 和 homesickness, concerns about relationships, coping with anxiety 和 depression, problems with sleeping 和 eating, or making tough decisions, the 健康中心’s dedicated staff is available for guidance.

Togetherall is an online peer-to-peer mental health community that protects anonymity 和 is 可用的24/7. Through the service, students can interact with a safe 和 supportive online community.  Resources include interactive message boards, self-assessment questionnaires, a private journal 和 goal-setting tools. A variety of self-帮助 courses are also offered.  

If a student makes it known that he or she is in crisis, Togetherall 会联系 BSU.  

“Wall guides” are in place to monitor the site around-the-clock. Bullying is not allowed 和 those who fail to treat others with respect are 删除.  

Welltrack 是另一个 免费的 online service BSU offersStudents can download the app to assess their mental well-being 和 gain access to resources tailored specifically to meet their needs.  就像 Togetherall, it is secure 和 anonymous.
